Frequent Questions & Answers
Fence staining, and sealing are one and the same. The products we use to stain decks have sealing and waterproofing properties incorporated in the Stain.
Selecting the right fence stain for your fence is a key decision that will pay dividends in its longevity. Factors such as sun exposure (or lack of), proximity to shrubs all play a role in which brand, and type of stain we recommend our customers use. With the right information we can select a fence stain that will not only last, but look great as well.
Yes, the more pigment a stain has the better it will hold up to damaging Ultraviolet rays (UV damage). A transparent stain as in a clear sealer will provide little UV protection, a semi-transparent will protect more, a semi solid more so, and a solid stain will offer the most protection against UV rays.
No, a solid color fence stain will not peel. Many contractors use deck stains on fences which will peel. We use fence-specific solid stains that will never peel.

We recommend (for pressure treated pine) to allow your fence to dry thoroughly (if newly built pressure treated pine). Allowing the fence to dry will help in stain absorption as well as color rendition. Newly built fences have too high moisture content thereby underperforming, having mildew, mold issues, and having to re-do in a shorter time-span than normal.
We perform minor fence repairs such as replacing gate hardware, replacing broken, rotted fence panels. For more extensive fence repairs we have a very competent carpenter we can refer.
Our Cabot stains can be mixed to practically any color available. Your fence can be a blank canvas.
Yes, we can pressure clean PVC fencing, as well as composite fencing. Visit our fence pressure washing page for more information.
